In May 1948 Egyptian troops quickly established a postal organisation in the West and South of Palestine.
From the start special stamps were used: definitives and other regular Egyptian stamps were overprinted for use in Palestine.
The overprinted values were issued on 15.05.1948, followed shortly by eleven further values: overprints in design types 1, 1a, and 2a in red, black and green.
Furthermore a series of air stamps (12 values) and one express stamp were issued: overprints in design type 2 in red and black.
